A Mushroom Mantle

Spring is here, spring is here...

I saw someone cut their grass in Michigan yesterday!  Daffodils are blooming, and my garden is screaming my name.  I have restrained from working out there too much, it is only March and snow could still be possible.

But seeing the growth outside has inspired me to bring spring growth inside.  I love red mushrooms, they remind me of all the fairies!  So up on the mantle they went.  Maybe a fairy will come visit us there!

I found this little print at Salvation Army, dated 1962.  Nothing a little paint and pitch black gel stain couldn't modernize.  I also added a faint hint of red to two of the mushrooms.  Forgive me I forgot to take a before shot.   I am still new to the documenting all the little before and afters and missed a few.

The mushroom in the urn was a plain brown paper mache shape found in the dollar section at Michael's.  Spray paint and more pitch black, and a natural red mushroom was born.

The wreath is a project from last spring.  Beans from the grocery store glued on, then spray paint to the rescue.

The mirror and frame were also distressed with left over furniture paint in some nice greens and teals.

Overall I think it looks like a good place for a spring fairy to come and visit us.  What do you think?
