The Fairies Have Arrived

This week it's finally back to feeling like spring, and yesterday it felt like summer.  Yikes, 90 deg. on May 3 in Michigan.  It's gonna be a hot summer, I think.    After spending a frustrating day with my sander, removing paint that didn't adhere on a custom piece,  I was in need of one of my favorite spring rituals.

Just grabbing the box of our fairy garden stuff brought a smile to the kids and myself.  With our mild winter, I was happy to find that our three little trees lived thru the winter, and we only lost two little plants.  I cleaned up the weeds and sticks and the kids dove right in and started getting it set up.

Nestled in our many mushrooms, we have two fairy doors on our tree that the garden is based around and 1 house that we  built last summer.  Little accessories like a tire swing, bench and a bird bath are tucked in amongst the plants.

Each of our kids picked out their own fairies a few years ago.  Though the boys couldn't remember whose was whose.

And of course, every fairy garden needs a Tinkerbell or two.

I am excited to see how the garden grows this year.   A few annuals will go in in a month or so.  I will replace the few perennials that didn't make it.  We will maybe add some more rock to create a path, and who knows what new little accessories we will find this year.

Have any fairies found your garden space?  I would love to see them!

Update:  The fairies have a fort.  See it here

I love how you have your fairy garden arranged under the tree! Our daughter has been digging and playing under one of ours since she was tiny....maybe we should put ours in the ground this year.
This was the first time I saw the birdbath with the frog too, hope you come across one!

I'm stopping from the linky--this is so cute. It makes me wish I had a little girl again. I'm not sure at 22 )and living in Manhattan) she would see the charm in a fairy garden.

Your fairy garden is adorable! What a fun thing to do with your kids! I pinned your new post, and I think I'll pin this one, I didn't realize it was around a real tree...

Love your garden. We were trying to decide between a small planter garden, or claiming a spot in the yard. Thanks!
