Last week I wrote about the French postage coffee table. Here. It was the table that took my attention off of this table. Well today I will tell you about the "other one". The twin. I actually started this one first, but struggled with the top, so it sat for awhile while I gave my attention to his twin.
This one was the first born, or first find. I found this table one garage sale before the other.
So remember the story...2 same tables, need 2 totally different finishes.
I started this one with some left over paprika chalk paint I had on hand on the base. I top coated the paprika with a slate blue chalk paint. I sanded edges and details, then glazed the base.
I added some light layers of those two colors plus white and black to the top and attempted to create a planky weathered look. Here is where I got stuck. I didn't like it after distressing with the original dark cherry finish showing thru. And planks were on my mind, so I switched to table two and created planks with stain. So this table sat and sat.
I finally settled on a weathered black with very subtle streaks of the paprika and white popping thru. I did a very light wash of a semi gloss black to add a little more dimension. The top still sort of ended up with a weathered plank feel, its chunky, weathered and looks a little rough and worn.
Two twins with 2 totally different personalities! Which twin would you choose?

Nice Job, I like the greyed finish of Twin# 2. He's definitely my favorite.

Love the pretty weathered look you achieved! And maybe it's a triplet. I had that very same table!
This is such a pretty table and I just love the color you chose! Thanks so much for sharing it with us!
