A Log for Frog

Remember when we went to search for fairies on Mother's Day?  Here.  One of the things that come home for me that day had nothing to do with fairies.

I got this ceramic log with holes for plants, similar to a strawberry pot.  I just had to have it.  I didn't know where it would go, but knew I would find a spot for it.

I first tried the log in the fairy garden, I just didn't find a spot where it looked good and didn't get lost in the garden.  Second spot was by the toad house.    There is lots of room in this garden for new plants and growth still.  I instantly found a spot mid garden that was vacant.

This spot receives some good midday sun, a rarity in my yard.  I had succulents left over from my umbrella pot I made.  Here.  I planted these in the log.   All of the ones planted are perennials to my zone, I hope they come back.   I do think I will have to protect the log from the cold so it doesn't cracking the winter.

There was still some holes between the log and the toad house.  I stumbled across a few other sedums at a garage sale and planted those around the vicinity of the log and toad house to grow and fill in over the years.

I had to include one updated picture of the toad house.  The blue grass is now blooming all around the toad house and looking great!

We are hoping some toad family comes and lives here.   I always thought these were just for decoration, but we actually have a real toad family living in one of our fairy houses, so hoping another toad finds and claims this spot.
