Stacy Needs a Seat

These are the chairs I did for Stacy Shaeffer Photography.   They sit in her new studio.  The one above is tucked back in the dressing room.

Stacy found these two chairs, 4 matching chairs without arms and a whole dining table in someones trash!  Score for Stacy!  They were cream with worn and stained upholstery.  The cream finish was a very smooth factory finish lacquer.

General Finishes glazing medium to the rescue.  This stuff is the best.  I forgot a total before.  Here is a shot with the two chairs, one has the first coat of GF, and the back one is as they were found.

Stacy told me she wanted them to look like custom  dark wood textured chairs.  She gave me a swatch of the fabric she was having that her mom upholstered the cushions with.

I My goal was to match the darkest lettering in the fabric.  I used three colors of GF glazing medium-  white, pitch black, and van dyke brown.  I mixed some custom brown with the 3 colors wet on wet, and other I let dry in between.  Layers upon layers upon layers later, these chairs are looking fabulous.

After letting the GF cure, I sealed the chairs with GF's gel urethane.  Stacy's mom added the upholstered panels, and the chairs are looking mighty fine.

Don't you want to go have her take your pictures just so you can check out the chairs?
